Just another weblog…. But Awesome

One of Korea’s most popular show in the winter of 2011 was a show called, “Now On My Way To Meet You.” The most surprising thing about this show is that this show has nothing to bởi with South Korea, instead it giao dịch with life in North Korea. The show features a panel of 4 celebrity hosts and 14 North Korean refugees who have dealternative text with the regime in North Korea and have sầu migrated lớn Seoul, South Korea.

The show is very interesting in a way where it contradicts what you think the show might involve. While watching the show you would notice the panecác mục singing, nhảy đầm, laughing, & flirting with the hosts and the next thing you know, it changes dramatically. The mood becomes dark and heavy as the 14 panedanh sách discuss their life and stories of North Korea. The stories being told by the panelists are always hard khổng lồ hear & usually tears are always being shed by the audience & panel as the refugees expose the reality of their life in North Korea. A life as they say that includes brainwashing, torture, starvation và public executions.

Each week the panel of North Korean women changes & each episode introduces a new survivor to the audience. Each week there is always a desperate North Korean refugee that comes on the show attempting khổng lồ use it as a platsize lớn find lost loved ones who they have not been able to lớn locate through any other avenues. The show was also popular throughout Đài Loan Trung Quốc during the time. This is very significant because during the time Đài Loan Trung Quốc was a popular escape route for many refugees.

The show was very contraversial when it had aired in 2011. DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) attacked the show by saying:

The south Korean puppet group is resorting lớn the smear campaign against the DPRK, trumpeting about the “human rights record” in the north, Kang Kyong Suk noted, & went onThe group mix up even a TV channel specializing in conducting an anti-DPRK smear chiến dịch, letting “defectors from the north” appear in programs. It went the lengths of bringing together those “who were not defectors from the north” và staging such burlesque as an art performance by a “group of beautiful girls, defectors from the north,” in the heart of Seoul as part of the smear chiến dịch against the north.

Although this show caused many contraversy with DPRK và others it still had a huge impact not only in Korea but in other countries. It shed light on the things that we didn’t know about North Korea and the things people are going through.

In July 2013, Daisy Donovan, an English television presenter visited the phối of Now on My Way to lớn Meet You in South Korea while filming an episode of The Greathử nghiệm Show on Earth. She travels the world investigating “the most popular television shows in the world, exploring how they reflect the societies that watch them.”

By The Way: Although this isn’t apart of the show, it is very similar to Now On My Way To Meet You. Yeonngươi Park, similar to these woman is a North Korean refugee who came to the United States at the age of 13. Similar to these woman she talks about the life she had in North Korea.

Wow. This really amazed me! I had no idea a show lượt thích this even existed. It is awesome that you were able to lớn find it and write about it because people should definitely know that it is in existence. This show, though probably not categorized as a drama, as you pointed out, is still so beneficial và important to the South Korean culture. Additionally, it is beneficial for all citizens of the world to lớn watch to educate themselves about the world around us. Often the news is able to lớn corrupt & alter stories, but these, coming from what I’m assuming are reliable sources, are more meaningful & impactful. Great post!
